SAU Extended Spot Round 2026
South Asian University announced an extended spot round for certain undergraduate programmes as part of its 2026–27 admission cycle.
The extended spot round was published on August 12, 2026, according to the university's official notification listing.
This followed earlier spot-round notices issued for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Spot rounds are particularly important for candidates who could not secure admission during the earlier merit-list stages or who are looking for vacancies that remain after regular admission rounds.
However, candidates should not assume that every SAU programme has vacant seats.
Eligibility depends on the specific programme and conditions mentioned in the relevant spot-round notice.
SAU UG Admission 2026
South Asian University has offered admission to several undergraduate programmes during the 2026 admission cycle.
The university's official admission notices show activity involving programmes such as:
BA LLB (Hons)
BBA LLB (Hons)
Integrated BBA-MBA
BA (Hons) in Media, Arts and Design
Other eligible undergraduate programmes covered under admission and spot-round notices
Programme availability differs according to the admission mode and stage.
Candidates should therefore check the exact notification associated with their preferred programme.
SAU PG Admission 2026
The university has also conducted postgraduate admissions for the 2026–27 academic session.
A spot round for certain postgraduate programmes was announced on July 25, 2026, while another notice covering certain undergraduate programmes and MSc Biotechnology followed on July 30.
An addendum concerning the PG spot-round notice was subsequently issued on August 2.
This means candidates interested in postgraduate admission should verify the latest status of their specific programme before assuming that applications or spot admissions remain available.
South Asian University Admission Modes
SAU offered admission through two principal modes during the 2026 cycle:
| Admission Mode | Basis |
|---|---|
| SAU Entrance Test Mode | University entrance examination |
| Direct Admission Mode | Applicable national-level examination/qualifying scores |
For Indian candidates under direct admission mode, SAU states that admission can be based on applicable national-level examinations such as JEE, CUET, NEET, CAT, CLAT, NET and GATE, depending on the programme.
Candidates from other SAARC countries and non-SAARC countries are covered by separate admission provisions.
SAU Entrance Test 2026
The South Asian University Entrance Test 2026 was conducted on April 25 and April 26, 2026, according to the university's official admission schedule.
The entrance-test application process has closed.
SAU subsequently announced merit lists and admission offers for eligible programmes.
For example, the university issued its first merit list for Bachelor's programmes, except B.Tech programmes, under Entrance Test Mode on May 26, 2026.
Therefore, candidates should not confuse current spot-round activity with the original SAU Entrance Test registration process.
SAU Direct Admission 2026
South Asian University also offered a Direct Admission Mode without the SAU Entrance Test.
For Indian candidates, this route uses scores from applicable national-level examinations depending on the selected programme.
These can include:
JEE
CUET
NEET
CAT
CLAT
NET
GATE
Other applicable examinations
The exact test accepted depends on the programme.
The university had extended the application deadline for certain UG and PG programmes under the applicable admission process to July 12, 2026.
That deadline has already passed, but subsequent spot-round notices were issued for selected programmes.
How to Check SAU Admission 2026 Latest Notices?
Candidates can follow these steps:
Visit the South Asian University admission portal:
https://admissions.sau.int/Open the Admission Notices section.
Check the latest 2026–27 notification.
Select the relevant UG, PG or PhD programme.
Check whether the notice concerns a merit list, spot round, admission offer or hostel registration.
Read the eligibility requirements carefully.
Check the deadline mentioned in the specific notification.
Complete the applicable admission procedure.

South Asian University Merit List 2026
SAU has published multiple merit lists and admission offers during the 2026 admission process.
The university's official notification archive includes merit-list announcements for various programmes and admission modes.
Candidates whose names appear in an applicable merit list must still satisfy the programme's eligibility requirements.
An admission offer can remain provisional until the university verifies the candidate's documents and eligibility.
This is particularly important because appearing in a merit list does not override the original eligibility requirements.
SAU Document Verification 2026
Physical registration and document verification form an important part of the admission process.
According to the official SAU schedule, physical registration and document verification for several programmes were scheduled during July and August 2026.
Students should keep original academic and identification documents ready whenever required by the university.
Documents may include:
Class 10 certificate
Class 12 marksheet and certificate
Graduation records for PG admission
Master's records for applicable PhD admission
Entrance examination scorecard
National-level examination scorecard
Valid identity proof
Passport, where applicable
Category-related documents, where applicable
Admission offer
Fee-payment confirmation
Other programme-specific certificates
The exact documents should be checked against the candidate's admission notice.

The university's official admissions portal describes its campus as spread across approximately 100 acres.
SAU is an international university established by the governments of the SAARC nations.
Its international character is reflected in its admission provisions for candidates from India, other SAARC nations and non-SAARC countries.
What Should Candidates Do Now?
