ARUNACHAL UNIVERSITY OF STUDIES Summary
Arunachal University of Studies is a state private university based at Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh. It was created through the Arunachal Pradesh University of Studies Act, 2012, Act No. 9 of 2012, sponsored by World Education Mission, a charitable trust. The Act received gubernatorial assent on May 26, 2012 and was published in the state’s extraordinary gazette on May 30, 2012. Its statutory purpose places particular emphasis on combining higher education with industrial internship and professional training, reflecting the employment and development needs of a geographically remote border state. The university operates from Knowledge City at Namsai and offers teaching across professional, scientific, social-science and humanities fields. Its statutory framework specifically contemplated business and management, engineering and technology, computing, entrepreneurship, rural development, biotechnology, environmental science, architecture, media, law, life sciences, nursing and related areas. This breadth supports a multidisciplinary model in which classroom study can be connected with practical training and community-oriented learning. The university maintains academic and examination systems for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral learners, with its central library and digital services supporting teaching and research. AUS also has a distinctive regional role. Namsai is an important educational and administrative centre in eastern Arunachal Pradesh, and the university’s presence expands access to higher education for students from Arunachal Pradesh and neighbouring parts of Northeast India. The institution’s original Act was later amended by the state legislature in 2022, showing that its statutory framework has continued to evolve. Current academic operations include research-degree activity, nursing examinations and digital academic services, while the university’s location gives its programmes a strong connection to regional development, employability, rural needs and the social context of Northeast India. Its Namsai location extends multidisciplinary higher education in eastern Arunachal Pradesh, while centralized examinations, library services and doctoral study support the university’s wider research and professional-development role.
