If there is a discrepancy, they should follow the correction or grievance procedure prescribed by WBMCC.
West Bengal NEET State Merit Rank 2026
The state merit/rank information is important during West Bengal counselling.
Candidates should distinguish between:
NEET AIR = National rank
and
WB State Merit Position = Position applicable to the West Bengal counselling process
The two numbers serve different purposes and should not be used interchangeably when analysing admission chances.
NEET AIR vs West Bengal State Rank
| NEET AIR | WB State Merit Rank |
|---|---|
| National-level rank | State counselling merit position |
| Based on NEET UG result | Prepared for eligible WB counselling candidates |
| Used in national admission processes | Relevant to applicable state counselling |
| Includes candidates nationally | Limited to eligible state counselling pool |
| Not the same as state merit | Used for state admission analysis |
Candidates should check which rank is being quoted in a college cutoff before making comparisons.
West Bengal NEET Counselling 2026
The state MBBS and BDS admission process broadly proceeds through:
NEET Result → Counselling Registration → Verification → Merit/Rank List → Choice Filling → Seat Allotment → College Reporting
Candidates should complete every applicable stage within the announced deadline.
Missing choice filling or another mandatory activity can prevent a candidate from receiving an allotment despite being included in the merit list.
West Bengal NEET Choice Filling 2026
Candidates eligible for the applicable counselling round should fill their college and course preferences carefully.
Before choice filling, candidates should review:
- State merit position
- NEET AIR
- Category
- MBBS/BDS preference
- Government/private preference
- College fees
- Previous closing ranks
- Seat matrix
- College location
- Available seat type
Choices should be arranged in the candidate's actual order of preference.
West Bengal NEET Seat Matrix 2026
The seat matrix is an essential document for candidates preparing their preferences.
It can provide details about:
- Participating medical colleges
- Participating dental colleges
- MBBS seats
- BDS seats
- Category-wise seats
- Quota-wise distribution
- Available seats for the counselling round
Candidates should use the latest matrix because seat availability can change between counselling rounds.
West Bengal MBBS Admission 2026
Candidates seeking MBBS admission should analyse their rank against the applicable college-wise cutoff.
Admission broadly depends on:
NEET Merit + State Merit + Category + Choices + Seat Availability + Counselling Rules
Government medical colleges generally attract significant competition because of their comparatively affordable fee structures and strong candidate demand.
West Bengal BDS Admission 2026
Candidates can also compete for applicable BDS seats through the state counselling process.
Candidates willing to consider both MBBS and BDS should place their choices according to genuine preference.
For example:
Government MBBS → Other MBBS Choices → Government BDS → Other BDS Choices
This is only an example. Each candidate should create a preference order according to their own admission priorities.
West Bengal NEET Cutoff 2026
The West Bengal NEET admission cutoff should not be confused with the basic NEET qualifying cutoff.
The college admission cutoff represents the final rank/merit at which a particular seat is allotted.
It differs according to:
- College
- Course
- Category
- Quota
- Counselling round
- Candidate preference
- Seat availability
Therefore, there is no single "West Bengal NEET cutoff" that accurately represents admission to every medical college.
West Bengal NEET College-Wise Cutoff 2026
Candidates should analyse cutoffs in the following format:
College + Course + Category + Quota + Round
For example, the closing rank for a General-category government MBBS seat can be very different from the cutoff for another reserved category or a private medical college.
Candidates should avoid comparing unrelated cutoff categories.
West Bengal Government Medical College Cutoff 2026
Government MBBS colleges remain among the most competitive choices in the state.
Candidates should prepare a broad preference list rather than relying on only one or two institutions.
A practical approach can include:
Dream Colleges → Competitive Colleges → Rank-Compatible Colleges → Safer Choices
However, colleges should still be arranged according to the candidate's genuine preference.
West Bengal NEET Round 1 Seat Allotment 2026
After the applicable choice-filling process, WBMCC will process the seat allotment.
Candidates receiving a seat should check:
- Allotted college
- Allotted course
- Category
- Quota
- Reporting deadline
- Required documents
- Admission fee
- Subsequent-round rules
Candidates should download the applicable allotment document and complete admission formalities within the prescribed period.
Merit List vs Seat Allotment Result
Candidates should understand the difference:
| WB NEET Merit List | Seat Allotment Result |
|---|---|
| Establishes merit position | Provides college/course allotment |
| Released before allotment | Released after choices are processed |
| Does not confirm a seat | Can result in a seat offer |
| Used for counselling | Used for admission/reporting |
| Contains rank information | Contains allotment information |
Therefore:
Name in WB NEET Merit List ≠ Medical College Admission Confirmed
What After West Bengal NEET Rank List 2026?
After downloading the rank list, candidates should focus on the next counselling activities.
The sequence broadly follows:
Check Rank → Verify Details → Check Seat Matrix → Fill Choices → Lock Choices → Check Seat Allotment → Download Allotment Letter → Report to College
Candidates should monitor the counselling portal regularly because admission deadlines can be strict.
What If Your Name Is Missing From WB NEET Merit List?
Candidates expecting their names in the list should first verify:
- Correct merit-list PDF
- Successful counselling registration
- Eligibility status
- NEET details
- Document-verification status
- Category information
- Applicable domicile requirements
- Payment/submission status
If the candidate believes there is an error, they should follow the official grievance procedure within the prescribed timeline.
West Bengal NEET Round 2 Counselling 2026
Candidates who do not secure their preferred seat in the first round can have further opportunities depending on the applicable counselling rules.
Vacancies can arise due to:
- Non-reporting
- Seat upgradation
- Candidate movement
- Vacant seats
- Revised seat availability
Candidates should check eligibility rules before participating in a subsequent round.
West Bengal NEET Round 3 Counselling 2026
Round 3 can provide additional admission opportunities for remaining seats.
However:
Later Round ≠ Guaranteed Lower Cutoff
Closing ranks depend entirely on the seats available and the candidates participating in that round.
Candidates should therefore continue filling realistic preferences.
West Bengal NEET Stray Vacancy Round 2026
If seats remain vacant after regular counselling rounds, the admission process can proceed to a stray vacancy stage according to the applicable rules.
Candidates interested in this stage should carefully check:
- Eligibility
- Registration requirements
- Available seats
- Choice process
- Reporting rules
Rules can differ from earlier rounds.
