Maharashtra NEET UG Merit List 2026 Released
The State CET Cell has released the Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 state merit list after completion of the applicable registration and document-verification stages.
Candidates who successfully registered for Maharashtra's medical admission process can check whether they have been included in the merit list.
The merit list is important because it determines the candidate's position for the applicable Maharashtra MBBS and BDS counselling process.
However, appearing on the merit list does not automatically guarantee an MBBS or BDS seat. Actual admission depends on the candidate's merit position, category, preferences, available seats and counselling rules.

Details Mentioned in Maharashtra NEET Merit List 2026
Candidates should carefully verify the information displayed against their entry in the merit list.
The list can contain details such as:
- Candidate name
- Application/form number
- NEET UG 2026 roll number
- NEET UG All India Rank
- Maharashtra state merit rank
- Gender
- Category
- Reservation details
- Applicable quota information
- Other counselling-related information
If candidates notice a discrepancy, they should follow the correction or grievance instructions issued by the counselling authority.
Maharashtra NEET State Merit Rank vs NEET AIR
Candidates should not confuse their Maharashtra state merit rank with their NEET UG All India Rank (AIR).
| NEET UG All India Rank | Maharashtra State Merit Rank |
|---|---|
| National-level rank | Maharashtra counselling rank |
| Based on national NEET performance | Prepared for eligible Maharashtra counselling candidates |
| Used in national counselling | Used for applicable Maharashtra state counselling |
| Issued through NEET result | Published through Maharashtra admission process |
| Includes candidates nationally | Covers eligible candidates in the state process |
It is therefore normal for a candidate's state merit rank to be numerically different from their NEET AIR.
What After Maharashtra NEET UG Merit List 2026?
After checking the merit list, candidates should prepare for the subsequent counselling stages.
The admission process broadly follows:
Registration → Document Verification → State Merit List → Seat Matrix → Choice Filling → Seat Allotment → Reporting → Admission
Candidates should carefully check the official counselling schedule because each stage has a separate deadline.
Maharashtra NEET UG Choice Filling 2026
Choice filling is among the most important steps after publication of the merit list.
Eligible candidates will have to submit their preferred MBBS and BDS colleges according to the counselling schedule.
While preparing the preference list, candidates should consider:
- Maharashtra state merit rank
- Candidate category
- College type
- Previous closing ranks
- Current seat matrix
- Tuition fees
- College location
- Government/private status
- MBBS versus BDS preference
- Applicable quota
Candidates should arrange colleges in their genuine order of preference.
Maharashtra NEET UG Seat Allotment 2026
The CET Cell will process seat allotment after the applicable choice-filling stage.
The allotment is broadly determined using:
State Merit Rank + Category + Choices Filled + Seat Availability + Reservation Rules
Candidates with better ranks generally have access to a wider range of options, but rank alone does not guarantee admission to a particular medical college.
A candidate must also include the desired college in the submitted preference list.
Maharashtra NEET Merit List vs Seat Allotment
| Merit List | Seat Allotment |
|---|---|
| Shows candidate's merit position | Shows allotted college/course |
| Published before allotment | Published after choice filling |
| Does not provide an admission seat | Can result in an actual seat |
| Used for counselling eligibility/ranking | Used for admission process |
| Includes eligible candidates | Based on rank, choices and vacancies |
Candidates should therefore not interpret inclusion in the merit list as confirmation of admission.
Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 MBBS Admission
MBBS remains the primary preference for many candidates participating in Maharashtra NEET counselling.
Admission opportunities are available across participating:
- Government medical colleges
- Municipal medical colleges
- Government-aided institutions
- Private medical colleges
- Other participating medical institutions, as applicable
Candidates should check the official 2026 seat matrix before filling choices because the number of seats available can vary by institution, quota and category.
Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 BDS Admission
Candidates can also seek admission to participating Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programmes through the applicable NEET UG counselling process.
Students who are open to both MBBS and BDS should arrange their preferences carefully rather than listing colleges randomly.
The allotment software processes preferences in the order submitted by the candidate, subject to rank and availability.
Maharashtra NEET UG Cut-Off 2026
The merit list should not be confused with the Maharashtra NEET UG college-wise cutoff.
The actual admission cutoff for a college emerges through the seat-allotment process.
Closing ranks can vary according to:
- Medical/dental college
- Candidate category
- Course
- Seat quota
- Counselling round
- Number of vacancies
- Candidate preferences
- Upgradation
- Withdrawals
Candidates can use previous-year cutoffs as a reference, but they should not assume the same closing ranks will apply in 2026.
Maharashtra NEET State Quota Counselling 2026
The state counselling process covers applicable seats under Maharashtra's admission framework.
Candidates should distinguish state counselling from the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling conducted separately at the national level.
| Maharashtra Counselling | AIQ Counselling |
|---|---|
| Conducted by Maharashtra state authority | Conducted nationally |
| State counselling merit and rules apply | NEET AIR used under AIQ rules |
| Covers applicable Maharashtra seats | Covers applicable AIQ seats |
| State portal used | MCC counselling system used |
| Maharashtra choice filling | Separate AIQ choice filling |
Eligible candidates may participate in both processes subject to the applicable rules.
Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026 Documents
Candidates should keep their original admission documents ready for counselling and reporting.
These can include:
- NEET UG 2026 admit card
- NEET UG 2026 scorecard
- Maharashtra NEET counselling application
- Class 10 marksheet

What If Your Name Is Missing From Maharashtra NEET Merit List?
Candidates who expected to be included but cannot find their names should first confirm that they are checking the correct merit-list PDF.
They should then verify:
- Counselling registration was completed.
- Registration fee was successfully paid, where applicable.
- Documents were uploaded correctly.
- Verification was completed.
- Candidate satisfied the applicable eligibility requirements.
- No unresolved discrepancy remained in the application.
If all requirements were completed and the candidate still believes there is an error, the grievance mechanism announced by the CET Cell should be used.
Does Maharashtra NEET Merit List Guarantee an MBBS Seat?
No. The merit list establishes the candidate's position in the state counselling process.
Admission depends on several additional factors.
For example, a candidate may have a valid state merit rank but fail to receive a seat if their choices are limited to colleges that close at substantially better ranks.
Candidates should therefore create a balanced preference list containing ambitious, realistic and safer college options based on their rank and category.
Maharashtra NEET Choice Filling: Important Tips
Candidates should avoid filling only one or two highly competitive colleges.
A broader choice list can improve the chances of receiving an allotment.
Students should:
- Check the latest seat matrix.
- Review previous closing ranks.
- Identify preferred colleges.
- Compare fees and location.
- Check category-wise seat availability.
- Arrange colleges in genuine preference order.
- Include realistic options.
- Review choices carefully.
- Save/lock choices according to instructions.
- Retain confirmation for reference.
Candidates should not copy another student's preference order because counselling priorities differ from person to person.
