CHIRAYU UNIVERSITY Summary
Chirayu University is a private university on the Bhopal-Indore Highway in Madhya Pradesh, established in 2023 by the Chirayu Charitable Foundation. Its roots lie in the Chirayu healthcare group, which began with a 20-bed hospital in 1992 and expanded into a major healthcare and medical-education ecosystem. The hospital grew to 100 beds within five years, a cardiac centre was added in 2004, and Chirayu Medical College and Hospital was established in 2010 with an 800-bed teaching hospital. Nursing education followed in 2012 and paramedical education in 2013. These institutions later became core components of the university. Chirayu University was created through a Madhya Pradesh state Act and published in the state gazette on 20 July 2023. The campus extends over more than 39 acres and combines health-sciences education with newer schools in management, engineering, arts, humanities, social sciences, physical education and sports. Medicine, nursing and paramedical education retain a distinctive place because the university is embedded within a functioning healthcare environment. The institution also supports research through an R&D Cell, doctoral programmes and a university research journal. Student facilities include library services, hostels, sports, transportation, cafeteria, medical support and other campus amenities. Chirayu University's defining feature is the integration of a three-decade healthcare legacy with a new multidisciplinary university structure. The presence of a teaching hospital and constituent health-sciences colleges gives the institution a practice-oriented environment that differs from universities built primarily around classroom disciplines. At the same time, expansion into engineering, management and humanities signals an effort to develop beyond its medical origins into a broader university ecosystem. The source year of 2023 therefore marks a new statutory phase in an educational and healthcare journey that began much earlier. This multidisciplinary expansion is developing around an unusually strong clinical base, allowing health education and newer academic schools to coexist on the same campus.
