Maharashtra NEET UG Merit List 2026
The State CET Cell prepares the Maharashtra NEET UG state merit list for eligible candidates who have successfully completed the state counselling registration process.

The merit list should not be confused with the NEET UG result released nationally. NEET AIR is issued at the national level, while the Maharashtra merit list is specifically prepared for the state's admission process.

Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 State Rank vs All India Rank
Candidates should understand that Maharashtra State Merit Rank and NEET All India Rank are different.
| NEET All India Rank | Maharashtra State Merit Rank |
|---|---|
| National ranking | Maharashtra counselling ranking |
| Based on overall NEET performance | Prepared for eligible state counselling candidates |
| Used in national-level counselling | Used for Maharashtra state counselling |
| Issued through NEET result | Published by Maharashtra CET Cell |
A candidate's Maharashtra state rank can therefore be numerically different from their NEET AIR.
Who Is Included in Maharashtra NEET Merit List 2026?
The merit list is prepared for candidates who meet the applicable eligibility requirements and successfully complete the Maharashtra NEET UG counselling registration process.
Simply qualifying NEET UG does not automatically mean that a candidate's name will appear on the Maharashtra state merit list.
Candidates must fulfil the state counselling requirements, including the prescribed registration and document-related formalities.
Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026
The Maharashtra NEET UG counselling process is conducted for admission to participating medical and dental institutions in the state.
The broad process involves:
Online Registration → Document Upload/Verification → State Merit List → Seat Matrix → Choice Filling → Seat Allotment → Reporting
Candidates should follow the latest CET Cell schedule because deadlines and individual stages can be revised during the admission process.
Maharashtra MBBS and BDS Seats 2026
According to the available counselling information, Maharashtra has 10,145 MBBS seats and 3,526 BDS seats referenced for the 2026 admission process, with admission opportunities across medical and dental colleges participating in state counselling.
Candidates should nevertheless use the latest official seat matrix released for the applicable counselling round when filling choices, as the operative seat distribution can differ according to quota, category and counselling stage.
What Happens After Maharashtra NEET Merit List 2026?
After the merit list is released, candidates should check their rank and prepare for the next counselling stage.
The next major steps generally include:
Seat Matrix
The counselling authority publishes the available MBBS and BDS seats across participating institutions.
Choice Filling
Eligible candidates submit their preferred medical and dental colleges.
Choice Locking
Candidates confirm their choices before the applicable deadline.
Seat Allotment
The CET Cell processes the candidate's merit, category, preferences and available seats to determine allotment.
Reporting
Candidates receiving seats must follow the prescribed admission and reporting procedure.
Maharashtra NEET UG Choice Filling 2026
Choice filling is one of the most important stages after publication of the state merit list.
Candidates should arrange colleges according to their actual preference, rather than simply copying a list based on previous-year cutoffs.
While preparing choices, students should consider:
- State merit rank
- Previous-year closing ranks
- College preference
- Government/private college status
- MBBS or BDS preference
- Tuition fees
- Location
- Seat category
- Current seat matrix
- Reservation eligibility
Candidates should include a sufficient number of realistic options to reduce the risk of receiving no allotment.
Maharashtra NEET UG Seat Allotment 2026
Seat allotment will depend on several factors.
State Merit Rank + Candidate Category + Choices Filled + Seat Availability + Reservation Rules
A high state merit rank can improve a candidate's admission prospects, but it does not automatically guarantee a particular medical college.
Candidates must include the desired institution in their preference list to be considered for that seat during allotment.
Maharashtra NEET Merit List vs Seat Allotment Result
| Merit List | Seat Allotment Result |
|---|---|
| Gives state merit position | Gives allotted college/course |
| Released before allotment | Released after choice filling |
| Does not allot an MBBS/BDS seat | Can result in an actual seat |
| Used for counselling | Used for admission/reporting |
| Includes eligible candidates | Includes allotment outcome |
Candidates whose names appear on the merit list should therefore wait for the applicable allotment result before assuming that they have secured admission.
Maharashtra NEET UG Cut-Off 2026
The state merit list itself is not the same as the college-wise Maharashtra NEET cutoff.
College-wise opening and closing ranks emerge through the counselling rounds.
The final cutoff for a particular college can depend on:
- Candidate category
- College
- Course
- Seat quota
- Number of available seats
- Candidate preferences
- Counselling round
- Upgradation and withdrawals
Candidates can use previous-year cutoffs for planning, but should not treat them as guaranteed 2026 admission ranks.
Documents Required for Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026
Candidates should keep their original documents ready for subsequent counselling and admission stages. Depending on the applicable requirements, these may include:
- NEET UG 2026 admit card
- NEET UG 2026 scorecard
- Class 10 marksheet/certificate
- Class 12 marksheet
- Class 12 passing certificate
- Valid photo identity proof
- Domicile/residence documents, where applicable
- Nationality certificate, where applicable
- Category certificate
- Caste validity certificate, where applicable
- Non-creamy layer certificate, where applicable
- EWS certificate, where applicable
- PwD certificate, where applicable
- Passport-size photographs
- Other certificates prescribed by the CET Cell
Candidates should use the official 2026 counselling brochure for the definitive document requirements.
What If a Candidate's Name Is Missing From the Merit List?
Candidates who completed registration but cannot find their names should first verify that they are checking the correct merit list and counselling group.
They should also confirm:
- Registration was successfully completed.
- Counselling fee was successfully paid.
- Required documents were submitted.
- Eligibility requirements were satisfied.
- No application discrepancy remained unresolved.
If the candidate believes there is an error, they should follow the grievance procedure provided by the Maharashtra CET Cell rather than waiting until seat allotment.
