Indian-Origin 14-Year-Old Ashrit Talluri Scores Perfect 1600 on SAT
Indian-origin student Ashrit Talluri has achieved a perfect 1600 score on the SAT at just 14 years old. The Fulton County, Georgia student earned the maximum possible score while still in ninth grade, years earlier than many students typically take the US college-admissions test.
Ashrit took the SAT in June 2026 and scored 800 in Math and 800 in Reading and Writing, giving him the maximum combined score of 1600.

Five Months of SAT Preparation
Ashrit's perfect score followed several months of preparation. He registered for the SAT in January after encouragement from his father and middle-school counsellor and spent roughly five months preparing for the examination.
His preparation reportedly included:
- Working with a tutor
- Using online videos and study material
- Completing more than two dozen practice tests
- Practising test-taking strategies
- Working on remaining calm during timed sections
Before sitting the official examination, Ashrit had already achieved a 1600 on three practice SATs. He nevertheless told FOX 5 Atlanta that the Reading and Writing section made him nervous on test day and that he focused on staying calm rather than rushing.
Already Taking College-Level Courses
The SAT result is only one part of Ashrit's accelerated academic journey. He completed approximately 14.5 high-school credits while still in middle school and attended college-level summer programmes at Harvard and Rice universities.
He is now a ninth-grade student at Fulton County Schools Innovation Academy and is simultaneously taking two college-level courses through dual enrolment.
Innovation Academy describes itself as a magnet STEM school serving students in north Fulton County, with students entering the programme as rising ninth-graders.
Interests Beyond the SAT
Ashrit's interests extend beyond standard school coursework. Reports describe his involvement in areas including:
- Artificial intelligence
- Computer science
- Medicine and neuroscience
- Chess
- Aviation
- Technology hackathons
He has also begun creating SAT practice questions and exploring test-taking strategies that could help other students preparing for the examination.
What Does a 1600 SAT Score Mean?
College Board currently reports SAT total scores on a scale from 400 to 1600. The test contains two scored sections — Reading and Writing and Math — with each ranging from 200 to 800.
A 1600 therefore represents the highest possible total score.
Why Ashrit Talluri's Achievement Stands Out
Most attention around Ashrit's result has focused not only on the perfect score but also on his age and advanced academic workload. At 14, he is still at the beginning of high school while already completing college-level coursework.
His experience also shows that the result followed sustained preparation rather than a single last-minute attempt. Months of structured study, repeated practice examinations and familiarity with the SAT format preceded the perfect score.
Ashrit has said he hopes to use his experience to help other students while continuing to explore his interests in technology, medicine and research.
