The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar invites applications for PhD admission 2025–26 under the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT: Phase II, funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. The scheme supports Full-Time and Part-Time scholars with generous fellowships and opportunities in areas like AI, VLSI, IoT, Quantum Computing, Cybersecurity and more.

Eligibility Criteria
Full-Time Candidates
- M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST)
- Or B.E./B.Tech. with 75% or 8.0 CGPA (General) / 70% or 7.0 CGPA (IITs/NITs)
Part-Time Candidates
- Same academic eligibility as full-time
- Must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from current employer
Fellowship & Financial Support
Full-Time Scholars
- ₹38,750/month for first 2 years
- ₹43,750/month for next 3 years
- ₹1,20,000/year as contingency grant
- Reimbursement of rent (as per norms)
- Support for international conference travel
Part-Time Scholars
- One-time incentive of ₹3,00,000 after successful PhD completion
