ESIC Invites Applications For Medical Courses

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation has invited applications for admission to undergraduate medical, dental and nursing programs for the academic session 2026-27. The admission opportunity is available under the Ward of Insured Person quota.

The scheme is meant for dependent children of workers covered under the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme. Through this quota, eligible students can seek admission in ESIC Medical Colleges and selected government institutions where seats are reserved for wards of insured persons.

783 Seats Earmarked Across 22 Institutions

According to ESIC, the 783 seats include MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing seats across 22 medical, dental and nursing institutions. The largest share is for MBBS courses, followed by BSc Nursing and BDS.

What Is Ward Of IP Quota?

The Ward of Insured Person quota is a welfare initiative under ESIC. It is designed to support the educational aspirations of families of workers covered under the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme.

Under this admission route, dependent children of eligible insured persons can apply for professional medical and nursing courses at subsidised tuition fees, provided they fulfil all required academic, entrance exam and counselling conditions.

Subsidised Fee Structure Under ESIC Quota

ESIC said eligible students admitted under the Ward of IP quota can pursue professional medical and nursing education at subsidised tuition fees. No capitation fee or donation is permitted under the scheme.

Eligibility Criteria For ESIC Medical Admission 2026

To apply under the Ward of IP quota, the parent of the applicant must be a registered insured person under the ESI Act. The insured person should also have been an active contributor to the ESI Scheme as of September 30, 2025.

The applicant must be a dependent child of the insured person and must have appeared for NEET UG 2026. Candidates must also fulfil eligibility rules prescribed by the relevant regulatory bodies and counselling authorities.

Ward Of IP Certificate Is Mandatory

Candidates seeking admission under the quota must obtain a valid Ward of IP Certificate issued by ESIC. The certificate is mandatory for participation in the admission process.

The application process for obtaining the certificate is completely online through the ESIC portal. Applicants must submit prescribed details and upload required documents, including photographs, proof of age, NEET UG 2026 admit card and other relevant certificates wherever applicable.

Counselling Through DGHS And MCC

ESIC has said admissions will be conducted through the centralised counselling process administered by the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

After obtaining the Ward of IP Certificate, candidates must also register separately on the Medical Counselling Committee portal to participate in the centralised counselling process.

ESIC Calls For Wider Awareness

ESIC has urged employers, insured persons, regional offices, branch offices, hospitals and state ESI authorities to widely publicise the admission opportunity among eligible beneficiaries.

Employers covered under the ESI Scheme have been requested to inform workers, display the notification at workplaces and help verify or update mobile numbers in ESIC records. Field offices have also been directed to organise awareness campaigns and assist applicants in completing the process within the deadline.
